What Is The Civil Works Administration...
What are we about?
On November 9, 1933, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt announced the creation of the Civil Works Administration as part of his New Deal. Roosevelt aimed for a coping system for Americans with the Great Depression, an end to the current economic downturn, and prevention of another depression from occurring. This program is intended to put people directly on the federal payroll to repair roads, paint schools, rake leaves, build playgrounds, etc.
What is our purpose?
The Civil Works Administrations is designed to assist in the creation of public projects and provide employment for men and women. The program will focus on the repair or construction of public buildings, roadways, and parks. We strive to provide employment to more than four million Americans, as well as, pay thousands of dollars in wages to help workers meet their needs during the Great Depression. Unskilled workers will receive about $0.50 per hour, while skilled workers will receive $1.20 per hour.
Where will our program be used?
The program of Civil Works Administrations will mainly be used in environments focusing in the densely populated cities in the midwest at first, due to the expansion and variety of public projects available.
How will we achieve our goal?
Money will be given to the states to build about 225,000 miles of roads, 30,000 schools, 3,700 playing fields and sports grounds to ensure thousands of more job will be available for the unemployed.
